Volunteers & Sponsors Needed: Student Welding Competition
Support the next generation of maritime talent at Core Plus Maritime’s first-ever Student Marine Welding Competition, hosted at Vigor Marine on Saturday, May 16. Thirty students from regional high school programs will compete in a hands-on weld challenge, mock interviews, and resume reviews—designed to better connect classroom learning with real-world industry expectations.
NMTA members are invited to get involved. Volunteer as a judge (10 a.m.–2 p.m.) and meet students one-on-one, sponsor the event for valuable recognition, or connect with emerging talent if you’re hiring. This is also a great opportunity to support instructors and students facing funding and equipment shortages—donations of PPE, steel-toe boots, or classroom supplies are welcome.
This unfunded, pilot program is driven by strong teacher and student demand and modeled on proven success in other industries. Join us in helping build a stronger maritime workforce.
