On July 16, internet bad actors used the name and email address of NMTA’s VP & Director of Government Affairs to appear legitimate. If you received the email, please ignore it and delete it, if you have not already done so. The bad actors also used NMTA created graphics making this the most sophisticated iteration of phishing emails trying to mimic NMTA we have seen to date.
We appreciate our vigilant members that recognized this as a phishing email and notified our office.
NMTA takes cybersecurity seriously and we have multiple entities monthly and annually reviewing all aspects of our IT systems including required cybersecurity training for our staff that includes how to recognize phishing emails.
