We are saddened to share the passing of Ivor Jones, co-founder of Delta Marine and a true pioneer in the Pacific Northwest boatbuilding community.
Ivor’s passion for boats began with racing, but it was his relentless work ethic and hands-on leadership that defined his career. In 1967, he and his brother Jack founded Delta Marine with a bold vision for building high-quality vessels in Seattle. Ivor invested in the infrastructure, brought together a talented team, and built an enduring culture rooted in integrity, family, and craftsmanship.
Under his leadership, Delta delivered more than 600 commercial vessels in its early years, including the iconic Delta 58, a mainstay in the Alaskan fishing fleet. Today, Delta’s 25-acre facility along the Duwamish River reflects the scale of Ivor’s vision and the company’s continued commitment to excellence.
“Ivor led with heart, grit, and a deep sense of responsibility,” said Michelle Jones, Vice President of Delta Marine. “We are committed to honoring that legacy in everything we do.”
Ivor leaves behind a legacy of leadership, innovation, and inspiration that will continue to shape our industry.
