With another busy summer ahead on Lake Union — including an influx of visitors for FIFA World Cup events and increased recreational activity on the water — our partners at the Recreational Boating Association of Washington (RBAW) have relaunched the annual “Mind The Zone” campaign. The initiative is designed to increase awareness of the Advisory Seaplane Landing Zone marked by five buoys on Lake Union from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
What Lake Users Should Know:
- Flashing yellow lights indicate a seaplane is landing or taking off.
- During these times, all watercraft should move at least 200 feet east or west of the buoy line.
How You Can Help:
RBAW encourages NMTA members to share campaign materials with customers and crews.
- Ready-to-use social media and newsletter content
- Logos, maps, videos
- Posters and promotional items (stickers, sunscreen)
