In previous issues of WaterLife we’ve shared some of the results from the surveys of 2024 Seattle Boat Show attendees conducted by GMA Research, including the exceptionally high Net Promoter score (75%) and the deep loyalty of our attendees (90% come every 1-3 years).
Another finding that may surprise some people is that 65% of attendees (up from 56% in 2023) come to the show to gather information, 53% to see what’s new and learn about current trends and 39% to compare boat models. That gives lie to the belief in some corners that boat shows — and perhaps, consumer shows in general — are becoming irrelevant thanks to the availability of information on the internet. Attendees appreciate the variety of boats on display in one place and want to see and touch the boats and talk to experts. No amount of online research can replace that. And if you’re not at the show you may not make an attendee’s consideration set. Or they may find another brand they like better than the one they thought they wanted.
2025 Boat Show applications are due August 31. If you did not receive yours, please contact Boat Show Director Katie McPhail, katiemc@nmta.net
