Karsten McIntosh, NMTA’s Director of Communications, recently represented the association at the Busan International Boat Show—Korea’s leading recreational boating event and a growing platform for global industry collaboration.

Karsten presented an overview of the North American boating market, highlighting trends, growth, and opportunities for Korean and Asian companies looking to enter or expand in the U.S., Canada, and the Pacific Northwest. His session drew strong interest from manufacturers, suppliers, and government-backed organizations, all eager to better understand how the North American market operates and how to build cross-Pacific partnerships.

Key topics included market access, generational shifts in boating audiences, Grow Boating initiatives, and the rise of electrification—an area where Korean manufacturing expertise could align well with North American demand.

The experience underscored growing global interest in our region and industry, while highlighting meaningful opportunities for NMTA members to expand internationally and connect with emerging, highly motivated markets.
