Thank you to Nordlund Boat Company and CEO Jason Machovsky for hosting NMTA and members of the Maritime Caucus earlier this month in Tacoma. It was a standout event with Speaker of the House Laurie Jinkins joining us in her home district, alongside Legislator of the Year and Caucus Chair Julia Reed, Representatives Lisa Parshley and Marie Leavitt, and legislative staff.
This gathering highlighted the strength of Washington’s maritime sector and the importance of protecting and growing our state’s boat-building legacy. Meaningful conversations took place between NMTA members and policymakers, underscoring shared goals to preserve jobs, expand capacity, and drive economic growth.
We also had the opportunity to thank lawmakers for recent legislative wins, including two key statutory improvements and the successful defeat of the proposed luxury tax on boats.
Events like this demonstrate the impact of NMTA’s government affairs work and our commitment to being a strong voice for the marine trades in Olympia.
