As Memorial Day approaches, the five seaplane advisory buoys will be reinstalled on Lake Union through Labor Day. These buoys help keep the lake safe for all users.

What to Know:

  • Flashing yellow lights mean a seaplane is landing or taking off.
  • All lake users should move 200 feet east or west of the buoy line during this time.

Now in its fourth year, the MindTheZone campaign—led by the Recreational Boating Association of Washington (RBAW)—promotes awareness and safety for all lake craft, including powerboats, sailboats, and paddlecraft.

How You Can Help
RBAW is encouraging NMTA members to share the campaign with customers. Available materials include:

  • Logos, maps, videos
  • Posters and promotional items (stickers, sunscreen, carabiners)
  • Social media and newsletter content
  • Staff presentations
