Patrick is the General Manager of Seattle Yachts. Seattle Yachts is an Anacortes-based company with operations in sales, manufacturing and service. What are you most proud of as it relates to the Anacortes Boat and Yacht Show?
It’s a serious show representing a wide variety of yachts, services and marine-related accessories in a laid-back setting. But what I am most proud of is how the show also gives back to and supports the community. The show committee is composed of folks from the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce, NMTA and the Anacortes Marine Trades Committee.

Over the years the Marine Trades Committee has donated proceeds from the show back into the community. Last year the Anacortes Waterfront Alliance (AWA) received $18,000 to buy three new Tera sailboats which will allow them to get more kids and families out on the water. Previously we had donated a chase boat. The Skagit Valley College Marine Technology program was allocated $10,000 to purchase outboard motors dedicated to training purposes.

Personal boating history
I have lived in the Puget Sound area my entire life. I grew up boating off the shores of Mukilteo, first in an eight foot rowing skiff, and then in an El Toro sailboat. My first motor boat was a 14’ Starcraft my Dad brought home with a 1958, 18hp Evinrude Fastwin. Just to be clear this was not in 1958 —I’m not that old!

What do you most appreciate about working with NMTA?
I love working with like-minded people, working together towards the common goal of getting people out enjoying the beautiful waters of the Pacific Northwest.

As a teenager I worked at McConnell’s Boat House in Mukilteo renting boats and weighing in fish. I once weighed in a 55-pound king caught off of Clinton!

After sailing four years in Pacific Mexico and the Sea of Cortez with my wife and son, we settled in Anacortes. We recently purchased a 1975 Roughwater 35 and look forward to many adventures to come, including spending more time in the Queen Charlottes/Haida Gwaii.

When not boating, what do you like to do?

When I’m not sailing, boating, fishing or crabbing you can find me in the kitchen making pizza. Currently, my favorite pizza is potato, rosemary and pistachio.
