NMTA’s annual Legislative Fishing Day, held in late August at the Port of Everett, brought together lawmakers, industry partners, and families for a day of salmon fishing in perfect conditions.

Attendees included Senate Finance Committee Chair Noel Frame (D-36), Senator Keith Wagoner (R-39th), Senator Jesse Solomon (D-32), Representative Brian Burnett (R-12th), Representative Josh Penner (R-31), along with legislative staff and children. The conditions were perfect and the catching was good!

Events like this are essential to NMTA’s advocacy toward expanded sportfishing opportunities. By inviting policymakers onto the water, we create opportunities to share the economic, cultural, and recreational importance of boating and sport-fishing in the Northwest. Conversations forged in relaxed, hands-on settings build stronger relationships and lasting understanding that directly benefit our industry.  Guests also reaped the benefits of learning from the expert captains and guides who shared their passion and first-hand knowledge about the sportfishing industry’s many challenges.

Special thanks to the Port of Everett, The Outdoor Line, 3 Rivers Marine, and Jacobson’s Marine for their generous support and the Coastal Conservation Association’s efforts to ensure success.
