NMTA is again joining forces with the Recreational Boating Association of Washington (RBAW) to gather members for the 2024 Legislative Day in Olympia on Thursday, January 25, 2024, to promote and defend recreational boating and water-based activities.
This legislative session promises to be full of twists and turns as the political parties and candidates focus primarily on the 2024 campaign season and an intriguing November ballot holding the aspirations of many. Cutting through the political noise at the Capitol, your lobbying team will be focusing on yet more efficiency and less time in derelict vessel ownership steps, more resources for habitat restoration and removal of derelict structures, and extending the length of boats eligible to cruise Puget Sound while delivering more revenue to the state as well.
We’ll begin with an in-person briefing from our director of government affairs, Jay Jennings, our lobbyist Roman Daniels-Brown, and RBAW’s lobbyist, Trevor Justin. You’ll then participate in meetings with legislators throughout the afternoon and the day wraps up with a reception at the Olympia Yacht Club at 5 p.m. Register here and Jay Jennings will keep you informed of precise location and timing, but plan to gather with fellow NMTA members and boaters at the State Capitol late morning through 7 p.m. when the reception concludes.
