Core Plus Maritime is preparing the next generation of marine professionals with hands-on learning, real-world experience, and direct connections to local employers. Since launching in Fall 2021, the program has expanded to 30 high schools and 2,000 students across Washington.

Graduates are already finding success, landing jobs with NMTA member businesses like LifeProof BoatsBrix Marine, and Woolridge Boats, as well as the Puget Sound Naval ShipyardBangor Submarine BaseU.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Navy and more.

At Mount Si High School, students built and launched two Wooldridge aluminum boat kits, fabricated parts for the Sea Scout Ship Spirit of the Propellor, and gained valuable welding and fabrication experience. Standout student Jaxson was hired full-time by Wooldridge this summer, joining two other Core Plus Maritime alumni on their team. Fellow student CJ Hull, an 11th-grade welder, joined the Sea Scouts and is now aiming for a career in the Navy.

With strong support from employers like WoolridgeLifeProof, and Brix Marine, Core Plus Maritime is helping to build a skilled, local marine workforce.
