NMTA and Cairncross & Hempelman, P.S. have created a suite of essential human resource documents for NMTA members. The suite includes a 52-page editable Employee Handbook for marina and marine businesses with Washington specific rules relevant to the maritime sector. The handbook features:
- Inclusion of WISHA alongside OSHA to address Washington-specific workplace safety requirements in maritime environments

- A comprehensive minor employment and safety policy tailored to marina operations

- Revised formatting and guidance to help members insert company-specific information where applicable (e.g., HR contacts, benefits, size-based leave eligibility)

- Alignment with current best practices

- Nine federal and state-required workplace posters and four essential employment policies and forms
Please RSVP to Wyatt Asbury at wyatt@nmta.net if you would like to attend the November 12, 4:00 p.m. webinar with attorneys from Cairncross & Hempelman for a presentation and discussion about complying with state and federal employment law and how a legally compliant employee handbook is foundational for communicating workplace policies, employee rights and responsibilities, establishes behavioral and safety standards, and helps ensure alignment with current Washington and federal employment law.
The Employee Handbook is available now for members at www.nmta.net/membership/resources. Note: the member resources page is password protected. Members can call the NMTA office at 206-634-0911 for the password or email Wyatt Asbury at wyatt@nmta.net
