The NMTA Board of Trustees, comprised of 13 members, provides governance and long-term strategic oversight for the association, setting priorities and direction that staff execute throughout the year. If you’re ready to play a leadership role in shaping the future of our industry, we encourage you to consider running in the upcoming May Board election. Three trustee positions are filled each year, with elected members serving three-year terms. Any voting member may self-nominate to be placed on the ballot (affiliate members are not eligible to serve).
Service Expectations
Trustees elected in May will serve from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029. The Board meets once a month for approximately two hours at 12:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday, with options to attend in person at the NMTA office at Mariners Square in Seattle or virtually via Teams. Board members also engage in at least one standing committee aligned with their interests and expertise, including Government Affairs, Superyacht Northwest, Boatyard, Marina, Grow Boating, Seattle Boat Show, or Anacortes Boat & Yacht Show.
Nomination Process
To be included on the ballot, voting members must submit a self-nomination by April 4. Interested candidates should contact Katie Groseclose at katieg@nmta.net to request the nomination form and questionnaire. A Nominating Committee, consisting of the Board Chair, two Trustees, and two at-large members, will review submissions and select six candidates for the final ballot. Ballots will be distributed beginning May 5.
